The following are some specific techniques that may be used during treatment:  Soft Tissue Manipulation, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Technique, Tripper Point Therapy, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Pregnancy Pre/Post Massage, Sports Rehab, Deep Tissue massage, General Swedish Massage, Visceral (Certified Level 1 and 2).

Sports injuries are common among athletes, both professionally and recreationally. Sports massages are focused treatments that address the injury as well as compensatory structures. Some common injuries that can be treated are strains, sprains, spasms, separations, dislocations after they’ve been set and tears. The therapist will use a variety of techniques to ensure that you can return to your sport at your pique performance level.
Rehab is a broad term that covers a myriad of conditions such as repetitive strain injury, chronic pain, surgery, TMJ issues and digestive issues to name a few. Through your interview and assessment your therapist will work with you to determine the best course of treatment.
Stress affects people in many aspects of their lives be it mental, emotional or physical. While the body is going through stress, cortisol is released which can trigger a person’s sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the flight or fight response. A relaxation massage can counter people’s flight or fight response and help to combat daily stresses.
There is a lot of misinformation surrounding prenatal/postpartum massage. Many people treat women going through this stage of life as fragile. At A&G Massage we believe this is a period of wellness where we aim to support in any way that we can. Prenatal and postpartum treatments can help expecting and new moms manage their symptoms such as low back pain, upper back, neck and shoulder pain, pelvic pain, calf pain, scar management for c-sections and breast congestion. Depending on the stage of gestation, pregnancy pillows may be used so that the patient can be face down for a portion of the massage without discomfort or harm to the mom or baby. There are no cut off dates for when patients can receive treatment. It is safe to receive a massage in the 1st trimester up to the day of delivery. Patients can receive treatment whenever they feel comfortable to do so postpartum. If a c-section was performed treatment to and around the area can only take place once the incision is fully healed. During that healing time other parts of the body can be treated.
“Deep tissue massage” is a misnomer since deep is subjective to every individual. What one person considers deep is another’s light. Usually, when people request deep tissue they are asking for specific, focused treatment to an area which your therapist will work towards if that is your goal for the treatment
